"Art as Philosophy"

Will you take a look at this post and let me know if you can share it with some artists or caring individuals who might be interested in contributing? Of course, this also an invitation to you and your organization to participate/contribute :-)

The piece was inspired by the many "business as usual" conversations I have had prior to and especially since starting this series. It is not part of sponsor presentation in the traditional business approach so that is not what I am trying to create. I am intentionally NOT following those "business as usual" rules.

What I am looking for are people to translate each slide by giving voice to them and adding their ingredient(s). I plan to have this completed in time for an event we are working on for Philadelphia where we will be launching a new program for those transitioning from homelessness. We have some very good relationships there that will address the sponsorship side of things, so the purpose of this piece is not to sale anyone on anything it is about expressing through art some ideas about business' role in this art series. Again I point towards "The Black Factory" (by William Pope L.) he used the corporation/business and its related processes as a metaphor and vehicle...Likewise I am exploring business as a concept in the context of art NOT trying to sale business on art.

If you know of anyone that would be interested please invite them to join and facilitate an introduction.

Your time, attention and support are greatly appreciated.

All the best!

Dear Yvette!
....I would like to put your attention to the fact that CF and Future Capitalism( FC) is part of the same coin.

I like the way you emphasize the distinction -----this is art not to support business, but art as a life spirit to enhance life quality.......it is like the value of art has to be appreciated on its own terms!

The ning community of FC need participation of artist to enhance it - they have a focus on micro finance and the work of Dr. Yunus.....this has a lot to to with homeless in the US.....the jobless as well.....
this is the Obamaspirit of the emerging new FC or CF .....Bill GAtes gives Creative Capital the spotlight is aslo something you should look!

Hi Inger,

As I posted in 360HUB, I was not suggesting there wasn't a place for MicroFinance or even that it was a matter of one or the other. I was simply sharing another set of ideas.

And if I fail to pay attention the space I am working in the work doesn't make any progress.
This is art that works multilaterally to meet other needs. Business, community renewal, Research & Development are all merely contexts to show the value of these kind of art based solutions that are integral to what I have referred to as Source Art.

It is important to remember that this is not trying to be what others in the business or financial markets are.
Consider Cultural Fusion as art that is using the realm of business as a context, the work I am interested in is based on opportunities in OPEN models (open source software, open systems, Radical Inclusion, peer to peer, etc.) and new industries that will create opportunities based on new paradigms working from the bottom up. I do not say that what Gates or Dr. Yunus & others are doing does not have value but that I don't feel it is where the greatest opportunities lie. Whether that is so or not remains to be seen.

I am exploring business as a concept in the context of Source Art. The project I posted about here is being opened up to my networks. Rather than assuming who will provide the most value I am endeavoring to find out.

Now having said that - Thank you for sharing the link, I will certainly check it out. However, I am not completely unaware of the many areas of discussion about economic remedies, but I don't think that I feel what you do when paying attention to them. Which is fine.

If that is an Ingredient you want to bring to the table, I don't mean to suggest that you can't.

My feeling is that each person has to FEEL their place in this art series, which project at what time to become engaged- if at all, and when there is adequate resonance then a collaboration is the natural result. I don't think I determine the timing of when others are engaged and I don't think I have much if any control over that. My feeling is that everyone who cares is welcome. Show me see how a given ingredient fits into the recipe and sure it might work. I don't know.

If I am making an apple pie it is a bit unlikely I will be interested in onions as an ingredient. BUT perhaps someone has a recipe for apple pie with Vidalia onions that works.

Dear Yvette!

I agree with you that apple pie do not enhance its taste by adding onions (not even sweet ones)
This is the problems of metaphors....they are rethoric! I used the metaphor of a coin....to sides - classical dicothomy of the human brain to classify: good - bad, blck-wht - the two forces we as humans try to balance, kind of...

In my world view the greed ( our money systems) need assistance. The spirit of giving ( for the good of man) are energies that need to enter a join grey zone .....to fusion up into a higher level of wealth creation as part of the fundamental meaning of life.

Cultural Fusion . CF( art as meaning of life - beauty, thruth, good) as been a serving servant for our capitalistic system version 1.0 Future Capitalism needs people like you, like Anders, like me and many of our friends in our networks. I agree that FC is a "boring club" - there is no essence, - a few spice are missing. We know that the spiritual enhancement of our dreams and aspirations are part of the future wealth creation system ( future capitalism version 2)

The reason why I am exiting to explore and follow the FC forums and specially of micro finance (as one of the ingredience) comes from the story about the white pine is a symbol of the Great Peace, Iroquois people. The man responsible to keep the fire birning, was the most terrible and violent man who was included into the talks to find the solution to peace. Not excluded but invited to the table to eat and to talk and to listen. Thus the worst, terrible, weapon, briber, violent merchant should be invitet to the table if we are able to overcome our challenges ......and he transformed ....and the long peace was created http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/3808/peace.html You might know the story.

Your comment makes me also think on the book Ismael ....the takers and the leavers:
"The premise of the Takers' story is 'The world belongs to man.' ...The premise of the Leavers' story is 'Man belongs to the world.'
The Takers are 'those who know good and evil' and the Leavers are 'those who live in the hands of the gods'."

ref to the book

If you have read the book, please, see this as a reminder....
Not sure why there is a need for me to bring this up here .....I guess it is part of my own brainstorm for a slide.

:-)

Also telling me I should try to drink more tea of Pine needles - one of Nature's richest sources of vitamin C ... still not part of the apple pai, but could be nice if weeten up with honey.

I will find one of the most greedy business man I know and invite him out for dinner. Will have to brainstorm on that one as well - please, ask me not the fade out on this task :-)

I happened to be here to get a link to a photo and saw your reply.,

Yes, Inger, I agree that it is needed and we are up to the challenge of being inclusive.
I believe that each person has a bit of what is needed to deliver the ULTIMATE solution - banquet feast- to address our collective challenges.

Please, don't take it that I am saying "no" to FC I am not. BUT we all have alot going on and so I have to find some way of managing my time and attention to actually get things done. With all you have going on I am sure you understand what I mean.

All the best!

Hi Anders,

I don't think my intention was to be alarmist, that just happened to be the name of the book the quote came from. However, whether or not the perspective you point to is true definitely depends on who you ask.

The circle is ever expanding so although it is always complete, there is always room for more to join :-)

Wow, Inger and Yvette, are you guys discussing or softly pumelling each other? :) Sounds like the idea of two lionesses kicking for dominion; how appealing:)

I enjoyed your replies and you know what sisters, we are all canvassing and building towards world peace and prosperity, no matter how it is done, as far as it is a positive approach!

People may not so much as agree with one method or process but it boils down to well-meaning end. I said something about hubs the other day and the subsequent replies from Yvette and I on the same subject; "different strokes for different folks" kind of. Just for a simple illustration, I dont believe in tradition so to speak. You know this thing about African tradition, American tradition, European tradition and so on. I believe in "the positive thing that works". If Africa can learn from America, so be it. And in turn America can learn from Africa, same about Europe, Asia, etc. the list goes on.

One other thing we should keep in mind is that only God is omnipresent (and the other two OMNIs), humans are not. Let us keep doing our best, lending our support when we can; CF, FC, 360Hub/Kids, SICU SSG, iPEACE, everywhere we find ourselves. I'm not an artist, but I appreciate positive things that work. It is just one world, isnt it? :)

Hi Tony,

I think this is the result of many of our ideas coming into new stages of maturation, expanding, etc. Certainly I think one of the things that brought us together was that we saw the need to embrace diversity with a commitment to participating in building a culture of peace.

If you look at how discussions work with heads of state they are anything but straightforward or introspective....

The most obvious benefit that I see in the diversity of paths forward is that it means it may be easier for more people to find their place. I don't think it is possible to be all things to all people, not even in the context of Radical Inclusion so I don't see these kind of dialogues as a negative at all. It is evidence of diversity and what it means to find ways to work together in light of it.

That is the very real reality that we face on the global front and it is much easier to do here (or other groups) where that is an assurance that personal attacks or malice are not an issue.

I see this thread being one that clarified contrast, which is important. Nothing gets done if we are all doing the same thing....it is because we are paying attention to different projects, approaches etc which make the each collective stronger. Working/playing in our respective areas of interest, coming back together to share findings, report progress....this is part of the process.

The lesson of diversity, it seems to me, is that we MUST learn from each other. And at the same time if we don't keep our attention on what we are doing then the work would not continue. While one may have an inclination in one direction or another I do find it a useful way to cross pollinate by sharing links/resources through our dialogues. I certainly do appreciate that when others do it.

On occasion I enjoy going through the blogs, posts and profiles to check out the links people posts.
I appreciate the reminders of what really matters, Tony :-)

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this group!

I have been putting this together with an indie music producer in the U.S. I am sharing with you because I thought you or someone you know might be interested.

If you think someone would be interested in participating have them get in touch with me via Cultural Fusion member site, one of the groups OR Twitter

This is an idea for a SoulFood - Stone Soup Experiment as performance art using social media.

I have an idea for positive socially relevant collaborative performance art. Normally flash mobs gather and clap or show up wearing red hats for x amt of time.
I am looking to create a more meaningful happening calling this a "Rehearsal Flash Mob".

The Cultural Fusion Experience radio show is changing program format to better support this project and what will follow.

After the event the tweets, event audio from the show, photos and video will be used in an online (and eventually real world) installation.

Ok that's the idea...

Let me know if you're interested and we can discuss more of the specifics.

All the best,
Yvette

Dear Yvette! ...again I am amazed by some way of synch...

I am working with Christopher in Oslo....Afro-American, who makes brownies (!) ...extreamly creative and had this Art Delicious thing going on in Gotenburg(Sweden). I think I told you about him before.

He has started a Kitchen project in Oslo and we organizew it as a cooperative with administration out of Molde. We hope that this summer . in the fusion of the creol new orleans kitchen that we are going to boil art and food and fun....http://www.rbnett.no/section/VIDEO/1209&id=173

Here is a link to a C-polis project few years ago. Might give you a background for creative fusion towards the coming month of July.Yes, we have to manifest .....Yvette, you are in the driving seat! I am close to be out of the virtual collaboration spirit due to practical day to day work in our fashion company.
(maybe that is the entrance???) Let us find sponsors in the fashion industry for what you "see for your inner eye" the potential of artist collaboration out of Molde and across time and space with what the things you do in your local web of interlinked projects.
